Insurance Education
The Insurance Institute is the industry’s premier source for
insurance education. We help people in the p&c insurance industry
develop and maintain their skills and improve their knowledge by
offering life-long learning opportunities. Our cross-competency
curriculum includes technical, professional and soft-skills training,
all available in a variety of flexible learning formats. By enrolling in

Designation Programs
CIP Program –
The Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) program integrates practical
and theoretical knowledge about the p&c sector for individuals
employed with p&c insurance companies. This uniform standard, which
is unique to the Institute, means that employers and consumers are
guaranteed that all CIPs have met the same rigorous test of knowledge. Go to the CIP Program.
Advanced CIP -
This four-course program blends CIP course materials with new topics
and techniques and is designed to enhance core business competencies. Go to the Advanced CIP program.
FCIP Program – Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) program graduates will gain a comprehensive understanding of strategic leadership and advanced management principles. Designed specifically for the p&c industry, the FCIP Program offers six courses, covering topics such as strategy, leadership, financial management, enterprise risk management and global issues. Certificate Programs
Risk Management Certificate - This three-course program offers students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of risk in the context of insurance. Learn more about the Risk Management program.
General Insurance Essentials (GIE) –
This two-course program introduces students to the essentials of
p&c insurance. It serves as a great platform for industry newcomers
and entry-level insurance professionals, and is also used to license
agents, brokers and adjusters in several provinces. Learn more about the GIE program.
Rehabilitation Benefits –
Offered in partnership with Seneca College’s Faculty of Continuing
Education and Training, this 10-course program is designed to provide
training in Rehabilitation Benefits Administration for those new and

Adjusters’ Training –
Designed by the Insurance Institute of Ontario in collaboration with
the Ontario Insurance Adjusters’ Association (OIAA), the adjusters’
training series combines case studies and applied industry knowledge to
help adjusters gain deeper insights to improve the servicing of
claimants and result in better adjusted claims. Developed for adaptation
nationally, this series includes Understanding Serious Injury, Understanding Bodily Injury and Understanding Case Law. Learn more about Adjusters’ Training.
Associate of Customer Service (ACS)
– Offered in partnership with the Life Office Management Association
(LOMA) in the U.S.A., this five-course program provides Institute
students with the opportunity to earn an ACS designation while studying
to attain their CIP. A customized self-study customer service course,
the program consists of three required courses and two elective courses,
all tailored to the p&c insurance industry.
Licensing
Our goal is to be your primary source for p&c insurance
education. Provincial governments across Canada have approved the use of
Institute courses as study materials leading to multiple levels of
